Swans for Sale

There are 6 different species of Swans and they are the largest and most beautiful members of the Duck and Goose family. Adult swans have gorgeous pure white feathers and a long, graceful neck, but their ducklings are as ugly as the story goes. The ducklings have gray and brown feathers until they reach about age 2. The most romantic of all birds, the Swan are protective of one another and will touch their breaks together to “kiss” and form a heart between them. Swans are native birds everywhere except for Africa and Antarctica. Black Swans are specifically native to Australia and can only be found there and in South America.

Types of Swans for Sale

Swan Facts

Socrates believed that swans performed the sweetest song just before their deaths. This is why last performances are often referred to as a “Swan Song”. The bird has also been revered as a symbol of grace and beauty and is often associated with poetry, music, and love. The spirit animal aids us in balance, commitment, and self-esteem just like the children's story teaches us in the popular “The Ugly Duckling”. The story is about how the swan in nature is ugly in its youth but grows to become the most beautiful of birds everywhere. It teaches us not to judge by first appearances, and that we all have grace and beauty within that can be drawn out over time. Many other folklore features the Swan.

Swans prefer to live in wetlands including marshland, lakes, ponds, and rivers surrounded by woodland. Swans are monogamous birds. Their young are called Cygnets and are able to swim just after birth. They are brought into the world from 4” eggs on mats of reeds and plants that create their nest on the edge of the water. Swans can be violent when they are being protective of their young and mates. They will attack dogs, kids, and even broke a man's leg in Ireland in 2001 for provoking them. Swans can be so aggressive that there are names for phobias of them, anatidaephobia.

Like Ducks and Geese, Swans migrate for the winter in the same “V” formations they do. They are very fast fliers, flying up to 60 miles per hour! Their wings beat slow, but steadily and it gives them the endurance to make the long trip. This enduring and determination is another quality that shines for people who consider the Swan a spirit animal of theirs. Swans are also intelligent birds who can remember who is kind to them and who is not.

In 1935 only 100 Swans were counted in the United States. 2,000 Trumpeter Swans were counted by the mid-1970s in Alaska and taken off the endangered species list. Each species and its destination have different considerations regarding its endangerment or even, its invasiveness. 3 Species reside in the United States, The Trumpeter Swan, The Tundra Swan and The Mute Swan that's been introduced from Europe. The Trumpeter Swan is the largest waterfowl in North America and the largest Swan species in the world. In most places, a permit must be obtained to possess or harvest Swans in any way.
