I am offering for sale one male 3 year old toucan that I purchased one year ago for $4,000. Unfortunately, my macaw is insanely jealous and he has been terribly unhappy ever since he has had to share the family's affections with the toucan. Since my macaw has been a beloved member of the family for 16 years, sadly there is no question about who has to go.

The toucan's wings are unclipped and he does not wear a leg band but he was bred in captivity by Chris Estep of Toucan Jungle. As a professional ornithologist of 40 years experience, I have given him only the very best of care. He has had a thorough veterinary exam from a zoo avian specialist, including blood-work and x-rays, and he is in excellent health. I've had him on a diet of Mazuri ZuLiFe low-iron softbill pellets and a daily mixture of diced fresh fruit (grapes, cantaloupe, banana, apple, peach, blueberries, mango, cherries in season, etc.), following recommendations of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, the Aviculture Society of America, and Emerald Forest Birds. He gets filtered drinking water, and he always has a clean bath. He is free to fly both inside and outside his cage. His horny bill sheath (rhamphotheca) is chipped on the left side near the tip but, like claws and fingernails, this should grow back since the germinal epithelium does not appear to be affected.

He will perch on shoulder, back, arm, or lap on his own volition, hand-feed, plays catch, and when in the mood he melts on your lap if petted, scratched, and preened. However, he is not well hand-trained (gets on hand only with persistence, but will stay once there), is not potty-trained to go only on his perch or in his cage but he does not go on people, and he sometimes pecks and bites - especially shoes or feet with which he seems to be preoccupied.

I can arrange to have him flown to any major US airport by commercial airline.

I will include his 18040 HQ Giant Double Bird Cage at no extra cost, although the cost of shipping will be assumed by the recipient. I purchased it for this bird one year ago for about $1,000. Dimensions: 80" W x 40" D x 80" H (66" H interior), weight 350 lbs. A smaller cage is not suitable for a toucan of this size.

Price $4000 including cage
