Unrelated, captive-bred, DNA sexed pair of blue-gray tanagers. The male was raised by me, is nine months old and is 2024 closed-banded, the female is around six months old, is not closed-banded, was raised by a colleague and was acquired as part of a trade along with several siblings which I am keeping for the time being. $700 for pair, shipping available via Delta Airlines only for $185 from St. Louis Lambert International Airport.
If you have never kept tanagers before, please do your research and understand these birds are 1) very nervous and flighty even if captive bred 2) need a diet consisting largely of fresh fruit and vegetables (I also feed Mazuri low-iron softbill pellets, and during breeding, live insects, boiled eggs, and tofu) and 3) are extremely messy, droppings and food mess not quite as bad as lories but similar. Best kept outdoors in aviaries in a temperate climate but I make do keeping mine in 5' flights one-pair-to-a-cage in my basement since we get below zero temperatures here. The need for cleaning is constant thus I do not have very many.
Thanks for looking!
