Curl Crested Aracaris are the only toucan and only species with curled feathers on both the crown and nape. Curl Crests range from eastern Peru into northern Bolivia and western Brazil. Weighing around 200 grams, they are the fourth largest Aracari and the most colorful of them all. They are fruit eaters and cavity nesters. They are rare in U.S. aviculture having been imported only twice in any numbers since the 1960s, which importations occurred in 2005 and 2006 by
Emerald Forest Bird Gardens.
